Futures: Fashion Communication

Description
This course explores emerging technology in the fashion industry. Students will learn how brands assess existing consumer journeys as well as build new consumer journeys through identification of key pain points and suggest innovative technologies to problem solve and enhance consumer experiences. Students will explore the potential application of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, Voice and Messaging, AR and VR; and context-aware tech in creating marketing and communication strategies and enhancing convenience and personalized products and services for consumers. Students will understand how these technologies, new ways of communicating and innovative user journeys are supported and driven by insights, trends and other sources of user data in order to build compelling and frictionless digital experiences and narratives. Case studies and industry speakers will allow students to link theory to practice using data and participate in developing tech recommendations for fashion companies. Note: PAFC 1200 Core 2, PAFC 1201 Visual Communication Lab 2, and PAFC 1500 Futures: Fashion Communication must all be completed before progressing to PAFC 2000 Professional Practices and PAFC 2100 Core 3: Capstone.
Open to: AAS Fashion Marketing & Communication majors; Fashion Business minors with pre-requisites or equivalent, with permission. Pre-requisite(s): PAFC 1000 Fashion Industry Survey, PAFC 1100 Core 1, and PAFC 1101 Visual Communication Lab. Co-requisites: PAFC 1200 Core 2 and PAFC 1201 Visual Communication Lab 2.
